  • An Integrated Workshop:  The Glass STEM -- The Fusion of Art and Science

    The Contemporary Art Center of Virginia (CAC), Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), partners in education, proudly present The Glass STEM: The Fusion of Art and Science!

    This is a 2-day teacher workshop focusing on Art, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The workshop will be held in conjunction with CAC's summer blockbuster exhibitionArt of Glass 2and is open to all art and science teachers. Join us August 17 &18, 2009 for an exciting learning opportunity where you may gain recertification points or graduate credit. 

  • Astronomy is the study of the solar system, sun and stars, structure of the universe, and the dynamic nature of the cosmos.  The course includes investigations of the physical world, studies of new astronomical discoveries, hypotheses and conclusions regarding new and evolving ideas, and key scientific principles of a vast universe.
  • Biology involves the study of life and focuses on the basic characteristics and interactions of plants, animals, and microorganisms in our environment. Topics include the history of biology, the cell and cell processes, genetics and heredity, cycles in nature, photosynthesis and respiration, ecology, and continuity of life. Students investigate current issues related to the biological sciences and the interaction of science, technology, and society. This course meets the Virginia Standards of Learning objectives for biology.
